Have just finished coaching a couple golf schools at the Lakes Resort in New Zealand. If you have'nt had the opportunity to visit New Zealand you difinately need to add this destination to your must see list. Be prepared for a friendly and relaxed experience, spectacular scenery and great fresh food. You must try whitebait fritters (tiny fish cooked in a fritter). Wash it down with a glass of New Zealand wine, it's very good and quite affordable.

I will warn you ahead of time, if you are looking at doing things in a hurry, you might want to take a patience pill when you get off the plane. It's a very laid back country, so relax and enjoy the experience.

The Lakes Resort is located about 11/2 hours south east of Auckland on the Coromandel Pennisula. It's a beautiful location and very tricky golf course. Lots of trouble so bring plenty of golf balls... you will need them!
Teaching the kiwi's golf is always a positive experience. I find both men and women very receptive to instruction and keen to understand the why and how to improve the level of their game. It is always a pleasure to be invited back. I'm already looking forward to my return visit.

New Zealand is definitely on my list of place to go visit and play golf. A couple years ago a friend showed me pictures of Kauri Cliffs & Cape Kidnappers and I've wanted to go ever since. Plus over the years I've heard so many good things from people who have visited about how warm and friendly the people are there. Someday soon!!

I am a New Zealander, I live in Christchurch.....

Prices are cheap for you Americans or British, because the exchange rate is currently like 1US = 2NZ, so its good for you. Kauri Cliffs and Cape Kidnappers are by far the best courses in the country, and likely the most expensive too ($250+ NZ a round, and accommodation at the lodges is HUGELY priced).

However, the best idea (if you can afford it) is like a two week tour of the entire country, and fit maybe 5 rounds of golf into that. In the North Island, play Kauri Cliffs and Cape Kidnappers, and visit Lake Taupo and Rotorua. In the South Island, visit the Abel Tasman national park and Queenstown, and play Terrace Downs, Milbrook, and if you can, the Michael Hill resort..... great places to visit

Ask questions if you want.... i live here.

It sounds like I can't afford not to go:)

Thanks for the suggestions. I will make this trip happen and as the time comes to make plans, I'll definitely be asking you and Bronwyn some questions.
