Hey Casey, I'm a big fan. Just wondering, in your opinion, what makes a good caddy? Out of curiosity who was your best caddy and why?

I think every tour player has a different set of requirements for what they want in a caddy. The basic stuff is pretty obvious; you need someone who knows the game and can get you good numbers/yardages. After that it is helpful to have someone who understands the psychology of what you are going through while you are competing. I know a lot of pros weigh the psychological component quite heavily. Some guys like to have a guy who really know the golf swing on the bag. That way if they get in a bind they have some help close by. Finally, I found it important to have someone who I could spend time with away from the golf course. My best caddies were my friends I had come out to spend some time with me. Because I am single it helped to have someone to go to dinner with and just hang out with away from the grind of the golf tournament. Every player is different but they all have some combination of the above mentioned skills.
