Ok, maybe not anything, but I am pretty open as many of you guys know from my blogs at Stoxpoker and will do my best to answer any questions you may have. If there is any advice you want, poker questions, or just have some random question, don't be shy.

Jeez, this is awesome.

1) Biggest losing day/session/period/downswing? (A downswing for you is probably breakeven lol.... you must be the lowest variance high stakes player online)

2) Dont you think table selecting like you do is bad for the game? I mean, i have watched you at 25/50, and as soon as the fish leaves, so do you, and mbolt if hes playing. Like at 5/10 and 10/20, why dont you just play regardless of whos at your table?(maybe not shorthanded against good regulars, but you get my point). IMO, no offence, but its kinda a selfish, nitty and poor ethical thing to do. Definately considering you would beat most regulars.

3) What do you spend FPP's on? Or are you a nit, lol, and buy cash bonuses? lol. I bet you do. Mr. Green

4) What would you do if they banned online poker in the US? Move to Monaco? ???? Go to some tax free haven?

5) Do you like the game of poker? Like would you go to a casino and play a 5/10$ game just to have some fun and socialise? Or is poker just a mathematical way of winning money, nothing more?

Thatll do me for now. Drinks

1. Biggest losing day was appr. $25k. I think that was all in one session or certainly two sessions with only a short break. My overall bigget downswing was something like $65k.
2. I just don't see any reason to play against a bunch of guys of similar talent. People can judge it all they want, but it isn't against the rules and they have every opporunity to play any game they want. Not to mention that mostly I am just playing poker with very little game selection considering I have 14 tables running usually.
3. Cash bonuses are the only way to go. Every other option is a big hassle. Not to mention that I am hradly a nit for doing this, I get like $50k+ worth of bonuses and I sure don't need a garage full of crap if I were to spend them on random things.
4. I would stay here and continue to persue my entrepreunrial dreams.
5. I like it ok. I'm certainly not in love with the game. I do on occasion go out and play live, but I only do so for fun and when drinking/ socializing.

I obviouslu understand the FPP thing, for players like you and certianly all the SNE's, its a major form of income.

Also, do you like 14 tabling grinding for your main source of income? How long will you continue to do it for? Till your set for life financially? Another few years?

- How did you get in to poker?
- Do you look through people's hand histories?
- Did you drop out of school? If not, what did you do before poker?
- Did you deposit once and turn it in to a roll, or did you bust your account?
- Can you post a pic of your setup? (Computers, monitors etc.)
-What kind of car do you drive?

Enough for now I suppose.

1. I started playing in late 04' when my buddy Matt told me about the game.
2. Yeah. I think it's a pretty good tool for people to improve.
3. I dropped out of college to play professional golf and later came to poker. Before poker I played golf and worked for my Dad's distribution company.
4. I busted a few small deposits, but eventually got the hang of it and haven't redeposited since. I guess you could say I turned my last $100 deposit into over $3M at this point.
5. I'm tragic with posting these things, sorry.

It totally depends on how else other things in my life go. I don't have any intention of retiring or just kicking back. I definitely want to keep working hard at something. The plan currently is to keep playing and if something else starts to produce an income and is enjoyable to me then I will move on.

Dusty, I have some experience playing poker but basically break even. I suspect that there are significant gaps in my knowledge. Now that you have had so much success I would like to know how you studied poker. Obviously there is no substitute for playing but I would like to know about the 'homework' side of professional poker. How would you suggest a serious, highly motivated player educate himself?

Without question the best way to educate yourself, and the way I personally used before I was a high stakes professional, is through Stoxpoker.com videos. If you are not already a member I would suggest joining. You can sign up through the banners on this site that I'm sure you've seen, or by going to the site directly. If you are already a member there, let me know in this thread and I will point you towards additional ways you can improve your game. But Stoxpoker.com has so many wonderful learning tools that you will stay plenty busy for awhile just using the site.

Dusty,

What was your "aha" moment in poker, not sure if you could single out one or not,
but the best bit of advice that turned you into a dominate force in No Limit Hold'em, I've had the privledge of watching your videos and have a lot of respect for your game.

I'm starting learning HUNL and am pretty nervous despite watching a plethora of vids etc

amv83,

Things really started clicking for me during the summer of 06' and especially 07'. I really can't pinpoint to any particular advice that would really help someone else, it mostly was just an overall realization about understanding how much equity you and your opponents would expect to have in a given situation, then using my head to figure out what to do with that information. Before I really never understood exactly what people were doing and why they were doing it, but after that things started to make a lot more sense.

Hop[e this helps in some way, and welcome to the site.

Dusty

Hi dusty

hope you are doing well...

I already once wrote you on stoxpoker forum username : yvonneasshigh maybe you remember me:-) Now I saw your posts on 2plus2 and from there came to this forum…

So my questions to you are:

1. do you think 20 Buy ins Downswing can happen lets say after 50 K hands or is it propably just bad play (when multitabling 10 tables)..because lets say you play 4 tables only, then 3 buy ins down can happen, but when playing 10 tables also 7 buy ins down can happen in just one day?

2.What I don't get is people recommend haveing 25 buy ins....now if I loose 20 because of downswings i have to deposit again:-) what bankroll do you recommend for 10 tabling?

3. I often have a pretty negative non showdown graph…I guess because of not bluffing or stealing enough . do you also got a negative one after some periods?

4. Mostly got problems with AA QQ KK AK when having top or overpair against a raise on the flop…on a dry board against 2 people 1 a fish the other pretty tight would you shove or fold?…what about if you play heads up against only one player, do you always shove? What must the flop board look like so that you fold and not shove

5. I often recognized that if I bet flop and turn and check river with toppair topkicker (and lets say the board is not that dangerous) on the river if the opponent bets more then half the pot they often got more than just TPTK or overpair….would you call a potsize anyway with TPTK or overs like AA KK if the board not contains a straight or flushpossibility and no pair….

6. against most players i often 3barell TPTK for value do you also think this is a good strategy OOP..IP sometimes I check the turn for pot control if my opponent is preatty tight...

7. do you also smoke?lol if so how many while playing poker? I smoke a lot when playing poker need to find out a way to stop that:-)

8. I found it hard sometimes to make notes about players...what kind of notes do you make?

I often use: raises flop with TPTK, folds turn to a bet after c-beting flop, 3 bets with AQ , raise turn= nuts,
but I have no idea what else I could have as a note....specially when multitabling 10 tables I need to have short notes...so any secrets you can tell me?lol

9. same thing about notes. lets say you did make a note that a player raises the turn only with TP middle kicker...you just saw that one time.....now how many times you need to see that before you eventually call the next time with TPTK ? is it enought to just see that only one time? because maybe the opponent was just on tilt and did raise with such a bad hand...

10. do you watch tv while playing poker or only focus on poker while playing?

I know that re a lot of questions so sorry for that....and Many many many many thanks, you’re the man:-) Rolling Eyes
